Nothing like an ice cold, cheesy martini after a long week of work!
Just kidding, but Velveeta isn't. Velveeta has partnered with the BLT Restaurant Group to release the Veltini, a cheese infused martini, in BLT's five restaurants. The Veltini, as they're calling it, features Velveeta-infused vodka, olive brine, and vermouth. It is garnished with a Velveeta rim and a cocktail pick of Velveeta shells and Velveeta-stuffed olives. How delicious!

“As we look to summer, one of life’s greatest pleasures is enjoying summer sips during golden hour,” said Kelsey Rice, Senior Brand Communications Manager for Velveeta in a recent press release. “We wanted to find a way to elevate this experience for our fans even further, by bringing the rich, creamy goodness of VELVEETA to a martini in a unique and unexpected way for the ultimate outrageous pleasure.”
You can sip on this cheesy beverage at BLT Steak New York, BLT Steak Washington DC, BLT Steak Charlotte, BLT Prime New York and The Florentine in Chicago from 5 PM - 8 PM for $15 a pop.
For those who can't make it to a BLT restaurant, Velveeta is offering Veltini kits via Goldbelly for $49.95. The kits make two martinis and contain two plastic martini glasses, a 16-oz gold plated cocktail shaker, two cocktail picks, two coasters, olives, two 4-oz packs of Velveeta cheese sauce, one 16-oz Velveeta cheese loaf, and one 10.1-oz Velveeta jumbo shells and cheese box. Vodka not included--you must make your own cheese infused vodka! This is done by combining room-temperature vodka with Velveeta cheese sauce and letting infuse for 8 hours, shaking every 2 hours. It then needs to be strained to remove the big cheese chunks. Sounds appetizing!
Unfortunately, the kits are now sold out. You can join the waitlist on the Goldbelly website to be notified when (and if) the Veltini kits become available for purchase again. If you're truly dying for a Veltini, you can make your own cheese-infused vodka by following the above Velveeta-infused vodka recipe.
Washington Post intern Jess Eng tried the crazy cocktail and released her thoughts in a July 21st article. She says about the cocktail, "On first sip, the drink lacks all the cheesy flavors it claims to promote. Instead, an intense rush of olive and salt from the brine hits the back of your throat. Granted, it could be worse. Besides the alcohol, the other cheesy elements add little to the drink. The creamy cheese rim floats on the otherwise-smooth liquid like curdles in your mouth. The olives and pasta seem to come from a day-old grocery store pasta salad that no one wants to touch. Only toward the end of the drink, which took nearly an hour to finish, did I detect a strong cheese flavor."
