2023 Winter Fancy Food Show Recap
Last week, the 2023 Winter Fancy Food Show occurred in Las Vegas, Nevada. The largest trade-only specialty food event in the United States, the Fancy Food Show showcases specialty food and beverages from all across the globe! According to the Specialty Food Association website, the show "attracts thousands of makers, buyers, brokers, distributors, and other industry professionals for three days of product discovery, networking, and business opportunities."
While it would be extremely difficult to talk about every one of the awesome vendors that were at the show, I am going to share a few of my favorite things that I saw and ate.
Angel's Salumi & Truffles Natural Artisan Charcuterie
I entered the magical world of Italian salumi and truffles (two of my favorite things) at booth 1053! I was very impressed by their duck salami, which I had never heard of prior to stopping at this booth. Angel's was actually the first in the world to premiere duck salami!
Their truffle selection was out of this world. From truffle butter, truffle salami, truffle caviar (!), to straight up truffles, I was in heaven! I definitely plan to place an online order from Angel's.
Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company - Quinta
Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company is not new to the Curd is the Word team. We've been enjoying their delicious farmstead cheeses for years! But, at the winter Fancy Food Show, I was finally able to try their newest creation: Quinta.
This is not your average soft-ripened cheese. Adorned with a Californian bay leaf and wrapped in CA Bay Laurel-infused spruce bark, this cheese is inspired by Vacherin Mont d’Or. The spruce and bay leaf notes make their way into the paste for an unexpected yet delightful flavor experience. Its gooey, spoonable texture is to die for. I was tempted to take the whole wheel home!
Pine River Cheese - 60 Month Cheddar Spread
Everyone knows that when it comes to cheddar, older is better! To ring in their 60th anniversary, Pine River Cheese debuted their limited-edition 60 Month Cheddar Spread at the 2023 Winter Fancy Food Show. This super tangy, rich spread is perfect to scoop during game day or as a quick yet satisfying snack. Also, you can't help but feel like you're in an exclusive club when dipping into the gold-foiled packaging.
Wisconsin Cheese - Winners of the Best Booth Contest!
In the case of the Wisconsin Cheeses's booth---bigger is better. One of the largest booths at the show, the booth was sectioned to showcase several Wisconsin cheese producers. It was announced on January 17th, the final day of the show, that Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin were the winners of the winter 2023 booth contest!
I had the pleasure of visiting and sampling much of the delicious Wisconsin cheese that they had to offer. All the samples alone make them a winner in my book 😉
