Are you a red wine enthusiast? If so, it's time to take a trip to a town in Italy's Abruzzo region where visitors can drink red wine from a free fountain set up by a local winery!
The Dora Sarchese winery installed a free, 24-hour red wine fountain in the commune of Caldari di Ortona. Anybody can drink from the wine fountain, but it is primarily to satisfy the thirst of those taking the Cammino di San Tommaso (the Way of St. Thomas) pilgrimage.
The Cammino di San Tommaso is a popular and spiritual pilgrim walk that meanders through gorgeous Italian villages offering breathtaking scenery together with historic Roman architecture. Pilgrims are rewarded at the end of the long journey to a very unique wine fountain experience!
The fountain is a wine-cask structure which dispenses authentic Montepulciano D'Abruzzo delicious, light, and smooth red wine.
Dora Sarchese winery and vineyard tours are rich in vine history and accompanied by generous wine tastings!
