25% Of the World’s Hazelnuts Go Into Production of This Food Product

Nutella has been a treasured creation since its arrival in 1964, so much so that there is a holiday dedicated to it on February 5th!

To keep up with the intense love and demand around the world, Ferrero has to make A LOT of Nutella. According to a report done by Insider, a jar of Nutella is sold every 2.5 seconds, and with the total amount of jars sold each year, you could circle the globe 1.8 times! According to Vine Pair, Ferrero makes over 365,000 tons of Nutella annually!


Each jar of Nutella is 13% hazelnuts, which means Ferrero has to have a lot of these on hand. So, just how much of the world's hazelnuts goes to Nutella?


Nutella takes 25% of the world's hazelnut supply!


According to BBC, Ferrero purchases a quarter of the world's hazelnuts every year to meet its Nutella making needs. Mental Floss says that it comes to more than 100,000 tons total!
