Autumn’s Best Treat: The Peanut Butter Pumpkin Beer Float

Step aside, basic pumpkin spice latte—there’s a new fall obsession in town: the peanut butter pumpkin beer float, aka “PBPA.” Cozy, boozy, and borderline genius, this drink hits all the autumn vibes.

pumpkin milkshake, pumpkin float

YouTuber Vlad SlickBartender took pumpkin + peanut butter to a new level by layering Dogfish Head pumpkin ale, Skrewball peanut butter whiskey, and pumpkin gelato in a chilled glass. The result? A creamy, spiced float that’s sweet, nutty, and totally indulgent.

Gelato vs. Ice Cream

Pumpkin gelato can be tricky to find, but dense, creamy pumpkin pie ice cream works beautifully. Talenti has tried pumpkin gelato in the past, though the layered, crunchy versions aren’t ideal for sipping. Trader Joe’s pumpkin ice cream nails the thick, silky texture you want for a float.

Make It Your Own

Feel like experimenting? A peanut butter pumpkin white Russian—vodka, peanut butter cream liqueur, and pumpkin spice creamer—is a tasty twist. Tropical fans can add pineapple, orange, or coconut with rum. Not drinking? Try a peanut butter pumpkin smoothie or milkshake.

For a near-boozy-but-not version, grab non-alcoholic pumpkin ales like Athletic Brewing Co.'s Dark and Gourdy, Go Brewing's F*** Pum’kin*, or Big Drop Brewing Co.'s Firesider Pumpkin Spiced. Seasonal and fleeting, so scoop them up while you can.

Cold, creamy, spiced, and a little naughty—PBPA is pumpkin perfection in a glass. One sip, and you’ll wonder why you ever settled for plain pumpkin spice.
