Founded in 1990 and located in Thurman, New York, Nettle Meadow Sanctuary Farm is owned and operated by Lorraine Lambiase and Sheila Flanagan. The farm is home to over 130 sanctuary animals, such as older or differently abled sheep and goats; llamas, horses, donkeys, chickens, ducks, turkeys, pigs, cats and bunnies. Lambiase and Flanagan are dedicated to providing a safe haven for any animal in need.
In addition to the thriving animal sanctuary, Nettle Meadow is known for their delicious artisan cheeses. According to their website, "Nettle Meadow is committed to the principles of natural ingredients, happy and healthy animals, and carefully hand-crafted artisan cheeses"! Kunik
Kunik is Nettle Meadow's most highly awarded cheese. One of it's most recent and prestigious feats is that it was named one of the 20 best cheeses in the world at the 2022 World Championship Cheese Contest! Kunik is a triple cream, soft-ripened cheese made from goat's milk and cow's milk cream. It has a tangy flavor and a luscious, soft texture.
For those who are truffle-obsessed like us, Nettle Meadow also handcrafts Truffle Kunik, which has a fragrant and powerful line of black truffle down the center.
Adiron-Jack
We can guarantee that you've never tasted anything like this! "This triple creme all cow’s milk cheese is one of [Nettle Meadow's] creamiest. The unctuous creme line is complimented by a local apple jack brandy. Floral apple notes bring out the natural grassy flavors of our Jersey cow milk, while the creaminess developed in [the] aging process is picked up by the alcohol in the brandy."
Fromage Frais
