Back in 2008, in a captivating scientific breakthrough, a team of Mexican scientists turned tequila into diamonds! They found that heating vapor from 80-proof tequila blanco and depositing it on a silicone or stainless steel substrate formed diamond films.

These synthetic diamonds possessed the same physical and chemical properties as naturally occurring diamonds, making them indistinguishable to the naked eye. They were clear, brilliant, and highly prized for their purity. This was possible due to tequila's composition. Tequila's ratio of hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon is similar to that of diamonds.
