How Did Devil’s Food Cake Get Its Name?

One thing that is known for sure: everyone loves devil's food cake! But, is it really all that different from regular chocolate cake?

Devil's food cake has more baking soda than chocolate cake, which raises the pH level, making the cake richer, darker, and fluffier.
