The abundance of drink options available today makes going out for a coffee, cocktails, or tea a bit more exciting than it was years ago before we knew so many options existed.
Lavender syrup is a clever way to bring a floral flavor and calming properties to coffee, tea, lemonade, sparkling water, mocktails, or cocktails in addition to desserts, sauces, and dressings.
To make this recipe, we only need 3 ingredients: sugar, filtered water, and dried lavender. When looking for the lavender, it is important to buy food grade lavender and preferably one that is organic.
Ingredients
¾ cup white cane sugar
¾ cup filtered water
3 tablespoons food grade lavender leaves
Directions
1. Put the sugar, water, and lavender in a medium pot and bring the heat to medium.
2. Stir frequently for 5 minutes or until all the sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat, cover and let it steep for 10 minutes.
3. Pour it into a mesh strainer that is positioned over a bowl. Discard the lavender. Pour the lavender syrup into an air-tight container and keep in the fridge for 2 weeks.
