National Mom & Pop Business Owners Day!

National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day is today - March 29!

Our economy wouldn't run without small mom and pop businesses - They create economic growth and provide almost 70% of all new jobs in the country. Every year on March 29, people celebrate and acknowledge more than 20 million small businesses by celebrating National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day!

Small businesses make shopping more personal. Finding that one store that has that just right vibe for you can be pretty tricky - Mom and Pop businesses take a special interest in making sure their customers have a unique and enjoyable experience. They care about their customers in a way that few large retail chains can by providing superior and personal customer service!

Local Mom and Pop shops have a real impact on their community by providing jobs and recycling the money they earn back into the local economy. So, by spending your hard-earned dollars at a local mom-and-pop shop, you can feel good about making a real difference!

It was Rick and Margie Segel who established this holiday in honor of their parents and the successful hat shop they opened in 1939 and grew into a 10,000 square foot, $2 million dollar clothing shop. This is a special day to appreciate the long hours, hard work, and dedication it takes to run a small business!

How can you support the small businesses in your community?

Shop local - Support the small businesses in your community by searching them out and visiting the ones you hear about!

Use Social Media - Many small businesses are happy to get a little extra attention! Make sure to follow your favorites on all their social media platforms and help promote them.

Write/Say "Thank You" - Running a small business takes time and effort. If there's a special Mom and Pop shop you appreciate, take a moment to let them know!

Take today to celebrate and head to a small business in your area to share gratitude!
