Pepsi Is Doing Prebiotics Now. We Didn't See That Coming Either.

Soda hasn’t exactly had the best reputation in the wellness world. It’s been ghosted by nutritionists, shamed by fitness influencers, and replaced by sparkling water more times than we can count. But Pepsi? Pepsi is not going down without a fight. In fact, it’s staging a fizzy little comeback—and this time, it's bringing fiber to the party.

Meet Pepsi Prebiotic Cola, the bubbly reboot of the classic cola, now reformulated for your gut. Each can packs 3 grams of prebiotic fiber, 30 calories, just 5 grams of cane sugar, zero artificial sweeteners, and somehow still delivers that nostalgic aaaah with your first sip. You know the one.

This isn’t just a quirky limited drop either—it’s Pepsi fully jumping into the functional soda game, a space that’s been blowing up thanks to brands like Poppi (which Pepsi just casually acquired, by the way). And with flavors like Original Cola and Cherry Vanilla, this isn’t your kombucha cousin’s gut drink. It’s your favorite fizzy friend with a wellness upgrade.

According to PepsiCo Beverages U.S. CEO Ram Krishnan, this launch is all about “next-level fizzy innovation” without ditching the flavor that’s kept the brand poppin’ for over 125 years. Bold words. But we have to admit—they might be onto something.

You’ll be able to grab a can online this fall, and by early 2026, they’ll be stocked in stores in both 12oz singles and 8-packs, cozied up right next to the OGs.

So, if your soda's been feeling a little one-note lately, this could be your sign to crack open a can that actually gives a sip about your gut.
