Rao's Teams Up With 818 Tequila for a Limited-Edition Boozy Pasta Experience

In the ever-evolving realm of celebrity and food brand collaborations, a surprising union has emerged that transcends the boundaries of tradition and taste. Rao's Homemade, a culinary institution with roots dating back to 1896, has joined forces with 818 Tequila, a young and vibrant spirits brand spearheaded by the iconic Kendall Jenner. The result? A limited-edition culinary masterpiece - the "PASTA ALLA TEQUILA" kit, marrying the time-honored flavors of Rao's with the youthful exuberance of 818 Tequila.

The collaboration might seem unlikely at first glance, as Rao's, nestled in the heart of old New York, exudes a classic charm that contrasts sharply with the modern allure of 818 Tequila, born just three years ago and embodying the glitz of Calabasas. Yet, Rao's has always had a penchant for attracting the attention of celebrities, counting luminaries like Frank Sinatra and Leonardo DiCaprio among its fans. So, perhaps, teaming up with Jenner's tequila venture isn't such a stretch after all.

Set to launch on February 13, the "PASTA ALLA TEQUILA" kit promises a "tequila twist on a classic pasta dish," reimagining the beloved pasta alla vodka. Combining 818 Tequila with Rao's marinara sauce, heavy cream, and parmesan, this unique recipe transforms into an effortlessly homemade meal that any aspiring chef can master. Kendall Jenner herself expresses her enthusiasm, stating, "I love swapping in 818 for other spirits when making cocktails, and we are always showing people how versatile tequila is, so we thought... why not try it in pasta?"

The limited-time offering includes the essential ingredients - 818-shaped pasta, the signature tequila and sauce, a custom dish towel, and a recipe card. Priced at $50, the kit will be exclusively available through the 818 Tequila website, with stocks lasting only as long as supplies permit. David Yan Gonzalez, the Director of Tequila Operations, explains the synergy, saying, "Our 818 Tequila Blanco has bright and citrusy notes from agave and plays well with the slow-simmered Italian tomatoes that Rao's Homemade uses in their marinara sauce." With minimal additional ingredients and a mere fifteen-minute preparation time, the dish promises a unique weeknight pasta dinner experience.

For those who might be skeptical about the unconventional pairing of tequila and pasta sauce, Kendall and her sister Kylie offer a real-time demonstration. In a captivating video featured on the 818 website as part of Kendall's new show, "81-ATE," the duo prepares the dish together, capturing their genuine reactions to the first taste of the pasta. Beyond the allure of celebrity involvement, the combination of a timeless pasta sauce and a high-end tequila brand undoubtedly creates an intriguing culinary affair. Sometimes, unexpected collaborations yield remarkable results, and the union of Rao's and 818 Tequila may just be the next sensation in the world of gourmet experiences.
