Savory Sesame Scallion Waffles Recipe

In the realm of culinary innovations, developer and food enthusiast Jessica Morone has bestowed upon us a delightful revelation: Sesame Scallion Waffles. Move over, scallion pancakes – there's a new crispy sensation in town that's not only easier to make but packs a punch of savory goodness.

Morone's culinary genius comes to life as she swaps out the traditional scallion pancake for a tantalizing sesame-infused waffle. According to Morone, these waffles boast "a similar flavor profile" to their pancake counterparts but manage to be lighter and less labor-intensive.

Scallion Waffle

Fear not, aspiring chefs, for Morone assures us that her creation is a breeze to whip up. "These waffles are very easy to make," she confidently declares. However, she does throw in a caveat – the only potential stumbling block lies in the realm of individual waffle irons.

In Morone's kitchen, where a trusty non-stick waffle iron reigns supreme, the process is smooth sailing. Yet, she sagely advises that not all waffle irons are created equal. Some may demand a judicious lubrication of oil or butter, and for that, she has a handy tip: a pastry brush for an even greasing experience.

For those of us contemplating the purchase of a Belgian waffle maker (or dusting off the one hiding in the back of the cupboard), Morone shares her insider knowledge. A generous ¾ cup of batter and a patient 6-minute cook time yield waffle perfection. But, and there's always a but, she playfully admits that each waffle iron has its quirks. Your cooking time might vary, as could the required batter quantity.

Worry not, though, for this adaptable recipe accommodates all waffle irons – big or small, Belgian or mini. The result? A symphony of flavors and textures that will leave your taste buds dancing. So, whether you're a seasoned chef or a kitchen novice, embark on the savory journey of Sesame Scallion Waffles. Your breakfast (or brunch) will never be the same again!
