This Cereal Tour Wants You to Pay With Rocks

When’s the last time you paid for something with a handful of gravel? Unless you’re a toddler trading “treasures” in the sandbox, probably never. But that’s about to change—because one cereal brand (hint: it’s colorful, crunchy, and has a prehistoric pedigree) is letting fans score free boxes of cereal in exchange for actual pebbles.
Yep, your driveway gravel, garden stones, or even that lucky rock you’ve been carrying around could be your ticket to breakfast bliss.
The stunt is part of a nationwide “Pebbles Pay Tour,” which is rolling into four Walmart parking lots this September. Instead of wallets, credit cards, or Apple Pay, you’ll need to cough up a handful of small rocks to claim your box. No giant boulders, please—though, let’s be real, someone is 100% going to show up with one strapped to a dolly.
Here’s the tour schedule, a.k.a. the rock ‘n’ roll roadshow:
Rock Hill, SC – Sept. 8, Walmart Supercenter #585
Little Rock, AR – Sept. 12, Walmart Supercenter #7
Bentonville, AR – Sept. 14, Walmart Supercenter #5260
Round Rock, TX – Sept. 17, Walmart Supercenter #5480
Notice a theme? Yep—three of the four cities literally have “rock” in their name. Marketing team, take a bow.
Each one-day activation runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., complete with colorful signage, photo ops, and of course, free cereal (while supplies last). And because this brand knows how to rock responsibly, all the collected stones will be donated to local parks and rec departments.
One box per person, 18 and older. Show up, hand over your rocks, and walk away with either Fruity Pebbles or Cocoa Pebbles—proof that sometimes, the oldest form of currency really is the best.
So, if you’ve ever wanted to say, “I just bought cereal with rocks,” this is your moment. Bedrock would be proud.
