Trump Claims Coca-Cola Is Making a Major Ingredient Change

Big soda news is bubbling up — and, surprisingly, it’s coming from Donald Trump. According to a post on his go-to platform, Truth Social, Coca-Cola might finally be swapping high-fructose corn syrup for real cane sugar in its classic soda recipe. If true, it would be the first time since the 1980s that American Coke goes back to the OG sweetener.

Real Sugar, Real Drama

Health-conscious folks have long thrown shade at corn syrup, and now the Trump administration’s “Make America Healthy Again” campaign, led by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., seems to be putting pressure on the junk food industry. After pushing for a ban on artificial food dyes, ditching corn syrup in Coke would be another win — or at least a nostalgia-fueled flex.

Nutritionally? Jury’s out. But taste-wise, soda fans swear real sugar Coke (think Mexican Coke in the glass bottle) is way better.

Here’s the kicker: Coca-Cola already uses cane sugar in countries like the U.K. and Mexico. So making the switch in the U.S. wouldn’t be wild — just potentially more expensive. Yep, your 12-pack might get a little pricier.

The Internet Has Thoughts

Social media lit up with reactions. One user posted, “Now we don’t have to track down Mexican Coke!” Another joked, “Sucks to be @Pepsi.” Clearly, people are thirsty for the change — and not just for the flavor. Glass bottles, anyone?

Will It Actually Happen?

Coca-Cola hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but if the rumors are true, we could be in for a sweet (and slightly more premium) comeback.

Real sugar Coke in the U.S.? About time.
