Why Did A McDonald's McNugget Sell For $100,000 on eBay?

When you think of eBay, you probably think of its wild and wacky listings such as a grilled cheese sandwich with the face of Virgin Mary, Britney Spears' chewed gum, or William Shatner's kidney stone. But, none of these outrageous items sold for as much as the eBay listing we will be talking about today: a McDonald's Chicken McNugget shaped like a crewmate from the popular online game Among Us.

In June of 2021, eBay seller polizna posted an auction called McDonald's Among Us shaped Nugget from BTS Meal. After an intense bidding war, the nugget sold for an unbelievable $99,997. The seller stated that the nugget would be frozen and then air-sealed prior to shipping to ensure freshness.

The nugget came from a BTS Meal — a McDonald's collaboration with the extremely popular South Korean boy band BTS, which likely also contributed to the extremely high purchase price.

Nothing is known about the buyer and what they plan to do with this nearly $100,000 chicken nugget. To the owner of the Among Us McNugget: if you're reading this, please come forward. We have some questions for you...
